Lions fall to two ranked foes
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · February 1st, 2018

The schedule this season for the Linn-Mar girls' basketball team has been anything but forgiving as the Lions have just two wins to show for it after 18 games total. The tough road continued last week for the Lions as they dropped a pair of road games to Class 5A ranked teams in Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids, Prairie. Linn-Mar lost 69-36 to former teammate Kamryn Finley and the Cedar Falls Tigers while also falling 57-39 to the Hawks.

Freshman Keegan Krejca led the Lions in scoring with 10 in the 33-point loss to the Tigers. Ally Johnson, Macey Miller, and Carly Printy each scored six points apiece to help the Linn-Mar cause. Finley scored 11 points for second-ranked Cedar Falls as they stretched their winning streak to 13 and improved to 16-1 overall on the season.

In the 57-39 loss to Prairie, Krejca led the way again with 13 points, four rebounds and three blocks while Johnson had 12 points and four boards as well. Megan Murphy and Hallie Peak both had five points apiece but it wasn't enough to snap Linn-Mar's long losing skid.

Linn-Mar now sits at 2-16 for the season, losing 10 straight contests. The team is scheduled for one game this week, a home tilt against Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
