Helping people live healthier lives
by DJ Kauffman Correspondent · February 1st, 2018

Ability Physical Therapy, P.C., located at 999 44th Street in Marion, has been helping clients reach their full ability since 1996, when Jean Hammill PT opened it under the name of Marion Physical Therapy at a different address with the goal of providing outpatient physical therapy services to local communities.

The name has been changed to Ability Physical Therapy as the business expanded into Mount Vernon and Center Point, they said. A fourth location is scheduled to open in March 2018 in Solon.

The company's current owner, Michael Reiling, who graduated from the University of Iowa Athletic Training program in 1996 and Regis University Physical Therapy program in 2000, said they are blessed with the ability to provide meaningful and significant services impacting their clients' lives.

Reiling noted that in addition to their core business of physical therapy services, they also offer "group exercise classes, strength, and education on health and wellness, personal training, yoga classes, Tai Chi Classes, exercise classes, massage therapy, metabolic testing, pre-employment testing, and drug testing."

The company also began offering fitness memberships and supervised exercise in 2012, at their Ability Fitness center located next door to the current physical therapy facility in Marion. "Our clients want to feel good and be active," Reiling said.

Besides Marion's fitness center, they also have fitness facilities in Lisbon and Center Point, where they offer full-service gyms known as Elite Fitness, Reiling said. "Elite Fitness is a 24-hour gym with personal training, group exercise classes, and fitness equipment. Personal health is critical in successful family relations, work capacity, and social interactions."

According to Reiling, the company currently has 31 employees. "I recognized early on in my career I could not do it alone, so I surrounded myself with a team of health and fitness professionals that have a similar passion. I am truly blessed to have met many clients and work with a tremendous staff that shares the same passion as I do in providing a service to our clients well."

Additionally Reiling said, "The full range of professional services complement each other with the goal of health and wellness promotion as well as rehabilitation for musculoskeletal or neurologic injury."

The business' website states, "Individuals are treated pre-operatively or postoperatively for pain in the spine or extremities such as shoulders, knees, or hips. Treatment is also provided for dizziness, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, imbalance episodes, general weakness, weakness after chemotherapy, chronic pain, Parkinson's disease, TIA's or CVA's. Sports injuries in athletes of all ages are treated at all locations as well as work-related injuries, and more."

Ability offers same-day appointments and cash pay discounts for those with high deductible insurance plans or no health insurance. "You have a choice in physical therapy. Choose Ability Physical Therapy," Reiling said.
